A Beautiful Fall Day

October 20th, 2021

We were blessed with a beautiful Fall day yesterday and I knew the rain was coming! We took some time out of the serious work of becoming readers and writers to go outside and rake up a pile of leaves and jump in it. We had such a fun time with such a simple thing. We picked up two bags of leaves for our janitor so that was fun too. I couldn’t help but notice that the leaves were all back this morning so there can be more jumping in our future! We then came back in an wrote/illustrated our fun. We are making steps to becoming writers.

A little Art display to brighten your day.

Colour Books

October 15th, 2021

I sent home the Colour Books that we have been working on. I am already seeing an improvement in the printing and colouring of the students. They have read each page to me and are confident in reading the simple repetative words. I would love it if you could have the children read their Colour Books to you. The confidence helps them as they move forward into more challenging words.

Clarification on boots

October 8th, 2021

Just a clarification on boots. When the rainy weather hits, our playground turns into a mud pit. On Wednesday, the children came in with very muddy feet and tracked the mud all through the hallway, classroom and on our carpet where we sat for the rest of the day. In the very wet weather months, I ask the children to wear boots on the barkmulch so that they can change into their clean shoes when they come in and then our classroom stays clean. I am asking children who do not bring boots or outside shoes to change into to remain on the pavement areas during playtime. This will allow us to keep our classrom and carpet cleanish. Thank you so much for your support! I know you also have experience with muddy shoes in the house!

Taves Farm Field trip

October 8th, 2021

I have finally locked down a place and a date for our first field trip. I had my doubts for a week or so as I made phone calls, emails and texts and waited impatiently to be told that different places couldn’t take us!

I am excited to take the students on their first field trip in Grade One to Taves Family Farm on October 29th at 12:30! Taves farm has very specific rules that we need to follow in order to go. This is new for me!

-They are limiting the number of parents who can come along. Our group cannot exceed 32.

-Parents will be charged $10 and I have to collect it and pay for our group with one payment.

Because our class is small this year, it does leave room for quite a few parents to come along. Please send your $10 in cash with the permission slip and I will make a list of who paid first. Also, don’t forget that the school requires a criminal records check. It is good for two years so if you did one last year, then you are still covered. You can email the office to confirm.

Although it is more difficult to plan and prepare, I know it will be worth it because the kids are so excited! The permission slip will be coming home today after school!
