Theme: Love, Valentine’s Day, Being a Good Friend
Math: patterns, printing numbers to 100, addition to 18
Language Arts:
Reading groups: children are divided into levels : B, C and D (our goal is to finish at level F). Books are being sent home for home reading each week.
Writing: Independently writing full sentences using known words and phonetically sounding out unknown words.
Spelling: 10 word lists sent home each Friday
Science: States of Matter
Socials: Mapping
Bible: Jacob – 12 sons, Joseph

In Social Studies we are studying Jobs in the Community to see what we may want to be when we grow up. We have learned about mechanics, pilots, Librarians, chefs, and dentists. We had a visit with our Principal and a fireman. We are still looking for parents to come in and share about their jobs. Can you help us?

Measuring

Learning the pattern of printing numbers to 100 is a big deal in Grade 1. It can be hard and overwhelming. I was so proud of the students last week when we started this. They picked up the number pattern quickly and impressed themselves when they were able to print all the way to 100!
