Year End Fieldtrips Cancelled

May 25th, 2021

It is with great sadness that I let you know that all remaining fieldtrips for this year have been cancelled. Due to covid spread, Administration feels that it is safest to cancel all remaining fieldtrips. This is especially sad for me because my Benanna Lake fieldtrip to visit Scout and friends and play in my favourite place is so meaningful to both myself and the children. We have been talking about it all year!

Last year I planned an Open House at Benanna Lake for families to sign up and come to play. I will pursue this and see if I can get permission to use the Lake on a Saturday. I will keep you posted!

Many blessings to you as you navigate this challenging time!

No Spelling Words

May 20th, 2021

There will be no Spelling Words for the week of May 24-28th.

Things you can do as parents…

May 17th, 2021

As we work through these recent challenges, there are several ways that you, as parents, can help us out! First of all, we would like to continue to strongly encourage you to drop-off as close to the 8:45 time as possible. For after school, students need to be picked up as close to 2:55 as possible so we can minimize the congregating of parents and students on the school property.

If you are feeling uncomfortable with having your child at school or your child is feeling ill, and you are keeping your child home please let the office and myself know so that we can plan accordingly. If you decide to keep your student at home, please find on the top right hand corner of my blog all of the activities that I planned last year for covid home learning. We are following the same schedule and you can look at the dates and continue your learning from the activities listed.

Cheam Wetlands Field trip

May 17th, 2021

As you may have heard in the Parent Meeting, we have been asked to cancel all field trips for the time being. Our field trip to the Cheam Wetlands scheduled for Wednesday, May 19th has, unfortunately, been cancelled.

I know this will be so disappointing for the kids as their understanding of the situation is limited. I am working on something else that we can do and it will involve ice cream.

Spring Sing Recording Cancelled

May 17th, 2021

Good Morning!

I just wanted to let you know that our Spring Sing recording that was scheduled for tomorrow will be cancelled. Students should come to school wearing their uniforms.

You will be receiving lots of information tonight at the Parent Zoom Meeting and I will be sending more blog posts tonight after the meeting.

See you tomorrow!

Year End Field trip Ideas

May 11th, 2021

Due to covid, our field trip opportunities are limited this year. I want to plan a year end field trip for the students somewhere between  June 7-15th.   At this point, I am coming up with alot of dead ends with ideas that I cannot get approval for or business that are shut down etc.

Do you have any ideas for me? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Money Unit

May 7th, 2021

We are working on a money unit in Math and are learning the names and values of the coins. We are currently adding coins. I would like to set up a little store in my room with covid friendly items and treats. I want the students to be able to count their coins and purchase items. Could you send your student with $1 or so in coins that they can count and buy with? I have plastic Canadian coins but it’s just not the same!
