One Final Post

June 24th, 2020

Thank you so much for a wonderful year. It did not end the way we might have planned it, but I truly enjoyed working with your children. I have not had a class that got along as well as this one has is many years. It was such a blessing to me.

Thank you so much for the kind words and gifts. It was so encouraging as we ended off our year. I will be happily drinking coffee all summer long!

Don’t forget to come on Friday morning between 9am-noon to pick up your report cards! Please bring a paper sign with your family name on it. I will be there and am looking forward to seeing you.

For those of you who signed up to come to Scout’s open house, I am so excited to share my favourite place with you! Pray for sun!

Have a wonderful summer and I look forward to seeing you in the Fall!

Report Card Pick-up

June 18th, 2020

The report cards will be ready for pick up on Friday, June 26th from 9:00am- noon. You may come at any time during the morning and it will be a drive through style pick up similar to when you picked up supplies after Spring Break. Please prepare a paper sign to hold up with your last name and you will be given your report cards. If you are not able to come in person, you can send a friend or family member, but they should hold up a sign with your family’s last name. If you have any questions, feel free to email me!

A Year in Review

Although this year did not go quite as we all thought that it would, I have so enjoyed teaching this amazing group of kids. As I was putting this video together and looking back at the photos of all the fun things that we did together, I could really see the growth both in size and maturity. I has been a pleasure working with you this year. I hope that the summer months are filled with food, fun, friends and sun!

Video Chat

June 17th, 2020

Thank you so much for logging into our video chat. We loved seeing your faces and it made us so happy. I am sorry that it was so hard to hear. With all of the background noise from all the links, we struggled to understand everything that was said but seeing your smiling faces one more time was amazing!

Popsicles

June 17th, 2020

We finished up our popsicle art today. We are really hoping that the sun will come out so that it will be popsicle weather!

Online Group Chat

June 15th, 2020

The kids at school have been missing their friends who are at home and who go to school on the days that they are at home and have been asking for a group chat online. We are going to try and do a whole class group chat on Wednesday, June 17 at 11:00am. If your child is at home on Wednesday, you will receive a link to join the meeting. It would be great to see as many kids as we can! I think it will be chaotic and hard to chat, but what a joy it will be to see each other one last time before summer break. I look forward to our chat!

Fun in Grade One

June 14th, 2020

This week in school on our last day of Grade we are going to do a drawing project to remember all of the fun we had together as a classroom community in Grade 1. For my online students, I did not add this to the Learning Menu for the week, but if you would like to do it at home here is a copy.

Our Class Community

June 11th, 2020

We have been working on our classroom community project. Yesterday the children added places in the community to have fun. We have a McDonalds, waterslides, pool, Go Bananas, Farm and I added a Starbucks. Today the children added places in the community that help us be safe. We now have a hospital, police station and fire station. We had a few extra minutes so we added some vehicles on the streets. This has been such a fun project! I hope that your communities at home are growing and looking great, as well!

Learning Menu Week 11

June 11th, 2020

Well, here we are at the last week of school. It is such an odd feeling. Thank you so much for the work you have done with your students at home. Based on the amount of work coming in and the emails that I have received, I’m going to hazard a guess that you are getting weary of school work at home. I have included a few activities to bring some closure to the work we have been doing online. If you can complete some of it, that would be great! I will leave it up to your discretion.

Scout’s Open House

June 10th, 2020

One of the things that the children have missed is our annual visit to Scout. I have heard many students and parents lament the missed opportunity. I will be hosting an open house on Saturday, June 27th for the students to come to the farm for a visit. It is a beautiful space and there is room for social distancing. In order to facilitate space, I will be scheduling families by appointment so that everyone doesn’t come at the same time. I will provide ample hand washing opportunities. If you would like to come up to the farm for a visit with me and Scout, send me an email and we will decide on a time. I look forward to seeing you there!
