Field trip Cancelled

Unfortunately, I have just been told that due to increasingly smokey conditions that we will not be allowed to go on our field trip. We are working on a plan to head out on the bus and find some fun without exposing them to too much smoke. If you signed up as a parent helper, can you pop by my classroom at drop off? We will still need your help! Children can still come in play clothes!

We have thought long and carefully about our field trip tomorrow as the children have not been outside yet this week due to air quality. In talking with Administration, we recognize that we will not be able to re-schedule this field trip if we cancel it and may need to pay for it even if we do not go. The air quality index has been changing multiple times a day and to cancel it today may not reflect what is happening outside tomorrow. The children have been counting down the days.

We have decided that we will continue on with our field trip plans and allow the parents to make a choice if they would like their student to attend. You may decide to keep your child home tomorrow, you may send them with a mask or they may come as they are. Safety is important to us and we know that you will make the decision that you feel is best for your child.

Pumpkin Patch field trip

We have been counting down the days to our first field trip and are very excited about tomorrow! We will be leaving the school on the bus at 11:00am and our tour starts at 11:30 and goes until 1:30. We will be taking our lunches with us so please pack something easy for the kids to eat that does not require a microwave. The students do not need to wear their uniform tomorrow. Please have the students wear something comfy that can get dirty. Don’t forget to bring a bag for your pumpkin! I hope to see you there!

Socktober

For the rest of the month of October, our school will be collecting gently used and new socks for our local shelters. We are looking for young adult and adult sized socks. Students who bring in three or more pairs may wear colourful socks for the rest of October.

Thanksgiving

I forgot to post some of our Thanksgiving work!

Pumpkin Muffins

On Friday, we baked pumpkin muffins as part of our October theme study. The students were very sure that pumpkin was stinky and yucky. They were pleasantly surprised that the muffins were yummy. I think the chocolate chips may have helped!

Kitten Visit

We had a very exciting visit from some very well behaved kittens this morning. The kids got to pet and snuggle them and quickly fell in love with them. If you want to add a sweet kitten to your household, not all of these kittens are spoken for!

Colour Booklets

In the month of September, we were reviewing our colours and making a colour booklet. The children are finished with their booklet and have read them to me. Could you take a moment and have your student read their colour booklet to you?
