Stranger Safety

April 5th, 2022

Our Assembly topic this month is Stranger Safety. This is a challenging concept for the children to understand as they often think a stranger is a bad guy with a mask or that every adult is safe. It is my goal that the children are not scared of people that they do not know, but that they have some skills to keep them safe. We will be talking about what a stranger is and who is a safe stranger. We will be reading books on what to do if you get lost and who can pick you up from school or activities. The students will be learning “rules” to help keep them safe and a song that will hopefully remind them of how to be safe.

This is a great topic for you to chat with your students at home so they know what you would like them to do if they get lost or if someone tries to pick them up who is not authorized.

Sickness Reminder

April 5th, 2022

We have lots of coughing and sneezing in the classroom today! It is also allergy season so I know that some of the kids may be suffering from allergies. We are still following covid protocols and trying to curb the spread of sickness. If your student has allergies, it would be helpful if your sent an email letting me know their allergy symptoms. If you are wondering when to keep your student home, here are the guidelines that we are using. Students stay home if they have:

        • Fever (above 38 C)
        • Loss of smell or taste
        • Difficulty breathing
        • Chills
        • New Cough
        • Sore throat
        • Loss of appetite
        •  Headache
        • Body Aches
        • Extreme Fatigue or tiredness
        • Nausea or vomiting
        • Diarhea
