Our mailboxes are hung with care waiting for the excitement that Monday will bring!

Valentine’s Day

Valentine’s Day is almost here! We have been preparing and are getting excited! Don’t forget that Monday, February 14th is a colour day dress up with red, white and pink. It is also our Love Guatemala Day and students are encouraged to bring $2 to donate to our new classroom fund. We will be mailing our Valentines first thing in the morning so students are welcome to bring cards and prepackaged treats if they wish. If you scroll down through the posts, I have included a student list to help make sure everyone gets included.

I will introduce the words on Monday, February 14th and test them on Thursday, February 17th.

Report Cards

Report Cards will be coming home on Friday, February 11, 2022. If you would like to book an appointment with me to chat about the report card, feel free to email me!

You are Special

It is important to me that the students know that they are special, unique and create by God just as they are. In February, our theme is love, friendship and treating each other respectfully. Today we read a book called “You are Enough.” I wrote down on heart shaped paper some of the things that I think are special about each of them and we celebrated each other. We then created a bulletin board about our “specialness.” I wish you were able to come into the school and see how special these kids are!

Reading Book Bags

As I finish up assessments for the coming report cards, I will be sending home book bags with the students. Students who attend Learning Assistance are already receiving book bags and I will not send another bag home with them. I will be working through reading levels in the next week. When you are finished with the books, return them. I will hand out new book bags each Monday for those who have returned their book bags. If you need an extra week, feel free to keep the bag until you are ready to exchange it.

Valentine’s Day Celebrations

Our theme for February is Valentine’s Day which includes friendship, kindness, love and bullying awareness. I love to celebrate Valentine’s Day with the children and it is a big deal in the classroom.

On Monday, February 14 , we will be having a colour day – students can wear red, pink or white in honor of Valentine’s Day. It is also Love Guatemala Day and students are encouraged to bring $2 to support the classroom we are building in Guatemala. A special hot lunch is also available to order through our website “munchalunch”

On Valentine’s Day we will be handing out Valentine’s Cards and small treats that are pre-packaged. It is totally voluntary if you want to send card, but please send one for each child. I encourage you to let your child print their own cards this year as they are very capable at this point. To help with inclusion, here are the names of the children in our classroom: Tolu, Aiydah, Chase, Eclypse, River, Aisling, Elizabeth, Savannah, Hayden, Findlay, Owen, Madison, Molly, Titus and Valentino

On Wednesday, February 23, we will be celebrating Pink Shirt Day and students are invited to wear a pink shirt. Our focus will be anti-bullying and how we can show God’s love to those around us.
