A change of themes

Things may be different due to covid, but there are many opportunities to have fun together!

This is our classroom advent calendar. We will open a door each school day starting on December 1st with a classroom decorating party. SHHHH, don’t tell the students!

We will start to decorate our classroom Christmas tree.

The outside of our classroom door, just for a little fun!

Salvation Army Food Drive

November 23rd, 2020

We are excited to begin our annual Salvation Army Food Drive on December 1. Due to covid, it will look a bit different this year, as we will not be bringing in can goods. We have set ourselves a goal of raising $5,000 for the Salvation Army. With their buying power, they can turn the money into much more food than we can purchase at the grocery store. Starting December 1st, there will be a Salvation Army kettle in the school foyer and collection jars in the classroom.

We will kick off our Salvation Army Food Drive with a pay to wear casual on December 1st. Students may wear casual clothes for a $5 donation to the Salvation Army. Students are still welcome to wear their uniforms if they prefer.

November 23rd, 2020

We had such a fun afternoon on Friday. We enjoyed snacks, Art and Games. As we are without a cohort, we were given permission to join with another class without a cohort and it was such a fun pairing. Thank you for all of the snacks that were brought in. There are lots left for our Christmas fun!

Parent Help Needed!

November 17th, 2020

Next week we will begin a new topic in Social Studies on Jobs in the Community. This is a fun unit for kids to explore things that they may want to do when they grow up. Usually we have parents come in and talk about what they do in their jobs and we go on field trips to explore. Due to covid, we need to try to make things fun in a different way.

Are there any parents who would be willing to video tape themselves talking about their jobs and send in the video for us to watch? The kids and I could send a few questions that we have and then you could make a short video for us to watch and learn?

The students love to see their parents on video and it would help us to add some depth to our learning. Please send me a video if you are interested in participating in our learning.

Art/Games Afternoon

November 16th, 2020

I am happily planning away for our fun afternoon this Friday, November 20th. Thank you so much to the families that offered to bring in pre-packaged treats. With the generosity of your offers, I will not need to ask for treats during the Christmas party season so a great big thank you! You can send the treats in any time this week.

Samaritan’s Purse

November 13th, 2020

I am so excited to tell you that we have raised $78.85 to donate to a water project through Samaritan’s purse! Thank you so much for your contributions! The kids will be so excited when I tell them!
