Pumpkin Patch

October 7th, 2020

As you know, we have been told that due to covid there would be no fieldtrips until further notice. We are going to have to be a bit more creative in order to have some fun. I am going to attempt to create a pumpkin patch in our Highroad Garden. I will be hauling out pumpkins and planning pumpkin activities. I have also purchased a prepackaged snack. I think it will be a fun afternoon!

On Friday, October 16th, the weather is predicted to be sunny. Fingers crossed. Students can wear play clothes and should bring rain boots as I think the garden will be mucky as the children hunt around for pumpkins. Could you also send a plastic shopping bag for the students to bring their pumpkins home in?

If you have any other ideas on how to make it a fun afternoon, I’m all ears!

Thankful

October 6th, 2020

Part of our focus this week is on being thankful and preparing for Thanksgiving. Yesterday we built a thankful tree. We read Todd Parr’s “The Thankful Book” and then listed all of the things that we were thankful for. The students chose two colourful leaves, cut them out and printed their two top things to be thankful for and then tapped them onto the tree. I think it is looking so lovely and Fall like.

October 5th, 2020

During the month of September, we were reviewing our colours and working on some sight words. The students are bringing their colour booklets home today. They are all able to read these simple words and would love to demonstrate their skills to you!
